Integrating Ketamine-Assisted Therapy into Whole-Person Care

At The Catalyst Center, every treatment is grounded in a holistic, trauma-specialist approach that blends neuroscience, compassion, and spirituality. We recognize the interconnectedness of the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of healing—and we’re honored to offer Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT) as a core part of that integrative process, supporting long-term growth and transformation.

What is Ketamine Therapy?

Many of our clients find us because they feel stuck—trapped in cycles of anxiety, depression, trauma, or emotional numbness that haven’t shifted, even after years of therapy or medication. These symptoms can leave people feeling hopeless or disconnected from their sense of purpose. At The Catalyst Center, we understand this struggle and offer Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT) as a way to create new possibilities for healing.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy offers a different path forward. KAT combines the medical use of ketamine—a fast-acting anesthetic that induces a non-ordinary state of consciousness—with the safety and depth of psychotherapy. This unique blend supports both neurological and emotional healing, helping clients break through long-standing barriers and access deeper insight and relief.

During a ketamine session, the brain’s neuroplasticity—its ability to form new neural connections—dramatically increases. This creates space for healing at multiple levels, allowing clients to:

  • Access emotions and memories that may be difficult to reach in talk therapy
  • Experience themselves and their stories from a new, more compassionate perspective
  • Discover meaning, hope, and inner resources for change

Guided by our trauma-specialist ketamine therapists, each session is designed to balance neuroscience with mindfulness, compassion, and spiritual grounding—creating an experience that is both safe and profoundly transformative.

Finding Relief When Other Treatments Haven’t Worked

They’re not just seeking symptom relief—they’re searching for a way to break free from painful cycles that impact their mental health, such as:

  • PTSD and complex trauma
  • Depression and treatment-resistant depression
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCD)
  • Eating disorders or emotional numbing

Many have heard about the potential benefits of psychedelic therapy and are looking for a practice that offers this innovative approach with compassion and trauma expertise.

Who Can Benefit From Ketamine Therapy?

Infographic showing conditions and growth areas that benefit from Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, including depression, trauma, anxiety, OCD, grief, disordered eating, and spiritual growth.Ketamine is a highly effective therapy for those struggling with:

  • Treatment-resistant depression
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and Complex trauma
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Anxiety
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Grief
  • Disordered eating

We also work with individuals seeking personal insight, spiritual growth, or healing from religious or existential trauma. Used in conjunction with EMDR, ketamine-assisted therapy (KAT) can help process trauma more quickly and effectively, leading to deep, long-lasting transformation.

More Than a Chemical Intervention

In therapy, we use ketamine as a catalyst for healing—not just a chemical intervention. With its ability to enhance neuroplasticity and normalize the brain’s default mode network, ketamine therapy offers a fast-acting alternative to finally break free from negative, ruminative thought patterns that keep you stuck. After KAT, many clients report:

  • Profound insights and new perspectives on long-standing issues
  • Emotional breakthroughs and release of long-held pain
  • A deeper sense of spiritual connection and meaning

The Importance of Therapeutic Support

Some clients come to us after trying ketamine infusions without therapeutic support or integration needed for well-being and effective healing. Many describe those experiences as unsettling or even re-traumatizing—especially for those with a history of trauma. While these treatments may have seemed more accessible or cost-effective, they often lacked the depth and support needed for lasting change.

People can have very intense emotional experiences during or just after their ketamine experience, and we believe having adequate therapeutic support is vital to maximizing the benefits and reducing the risks of an adverse experience.

In our therapist-supported Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) sessions, clients experience the neurochemical benefits of ketamine while also receiving trauma-specialized support. This approach allows them to revisit traumatic memories with a sense of distance and safety, providing emotional release and meaningful insights into life-defining moments.

In short: Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy at The Catalyst Center helps clients access healing at every level—biological, emotional, psychological, and spiritual.

Why Ketamine-Assisted Therapy Is A Pillar Of Our Practice

For the past several years, The Catalyst Center has provided spiritually integrated trauma care, blending evidence-based treatment with depth-oriented, whole-person healing. Alongside modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), many of our therapists are also certified in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP).

As KAP therapists, we are passionate this approach because it offers our clients profound moments of symptom relief, reconnection, and renewal, Healing deepens, behaviors begin to shift, and clients rediscover their capacity for meaning and transformation.

A Transformative Approach Beyond Traditional Therapy

Ketamine-Assisted Therapy offers a powerful and transformative experience—especially for those who haven’t found relief through traditional talk therapy or antidepressant medications. Because ketamine acts on the brain differently, it helps:

  • Open new neural pathways
  • Enhance neuroplasticity, creating space for change
  • Reduce rigid, self-limiting thought patterns

Integrating Psychedelic Work with Trauma Therapy

When psychedelic or psycholytic experiences are safely supported and carefully integrated, Ketamine-Assisted Therapy helps clients move through inner blocks that once felt immovable.

By fostering connection to your inner wisdom, values, and purpose, ketamine not only provides rapid relief from debilitating symptoms, but also lays the groundwork for lasting transformation and wholeness.

Personalized Treatment Paths

ketamine therapy at the catalyst center what to expect

Your KAP journey begins with a free introductory call and then the initial medical intake with Adrienne Long, PMHNP-BC, our Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. During this meeting, Adrienne will complete a medical screening, answer any questions you may have about ketamine treatments, and help determine the best treatment options for your needs.

Once your goals are understood, Adrienne and the KAP team will discuss your case collaboratively and recommend the best treatment track and therapist fit for your goals, which may include:

  • High-dose psychedelic intensives for deeper, immersive healing experiences.
  • Low-dose psycholytic sessions to gently support trauma processing and emotional exploration. EMDR and IFS are commonly integrated into low dose KAP sessions.
  • Group Ketamine Therapy for community-based healing and shared support.

What Happens During a Ketamine Session

In higher doses, the dissociative effects of ketamine can reset the brain’s default mode network, allowing you to step outside entrenched identity narratives, find meaning, and gain a fresh perspective.
In lower doses, ketamine can soften psychological defenses, making it easier to process trauma or explore difficult emotions with less overwhelm.

Preparing for Your Journey

We find that the more knowledge clients have about KAP beforehand, the more effective their sessions are. Before beginning therapy, you’ll participate in two preparation sessions with your therapist. These sessions help you:

  • Understand what to expect during your ketamine experience
  • Set intentions for healing and growth
  • Establish comfort, safety, and trust with your care team

During Your KAP Session

Each session lasts about two hours, with approximately 45–70 minutes under the influence of ketamine. All KAP sessions are conducted on-site and are fully supported by your therapist and medical team, including Adrienne Long and our medical assistant, Autumn.

Throughout your session, our team will remain present to ensure your comfort and safety. They may offer reassurance, answer questions, or take notes to help capture insights that can later be integrated into your next session.

Integration and Ongoing Support

We typically recommend four-six KAP sessions as a starting point. Integration sessions occur the next day. However, the pace and structure of treatment are flexible to meet your unique needs.

Collaboration is central to our approach. We coordinate with your psychiatrist, primary care provider, and/or primary therapist to ensure your care is comprehensive, aligned, and supportive of long-term healing.
