Eating Disorder Recovery Services

Our Eating Disorder Services

Because each individual’s goals, history, and context are unique, our approach is integrative and client-centered. The term integrative may seem vague, but based on our clinical experience and learning, we do not believe adhering to one theory or approach is beneficial, nor is it effective.

Instead we collaborate with our clients to determine biological, psychological, and social influences on their struggles, which then informs treatment recommendations moving forward.

Individual and Couples Therapy

Our Eating Disorder Team offers individual, family, and couples therapy for children (10+), adolescents, and adults.

Psychiatry

In addition to therapy, nutrition, and medical support, those seeking recovery find that having a psychiatry provider who also has ample knowledge of eating disorders is an integral part of their journey.

KAP

Psychedelic Assisted Therapy

Ketamine is a fast-acting, highly effective treatment for depression that has not responded to other treatments. Additionally, it shows promise in the treatment of PTSD, OCD and Eating Disorders.

Comprehensive Evaluation and Psychological Assessment

Psychological assessment is a brief, intensive treatment model that can help identify emotional, learning, and attentional conditions that can contribute to an eating disorder.

Neurofeedback

We believe an integrative approach that addresses the mind-body connection leads to sustainable recovery. Neurofeedback is an additional intervention that focuses on the ‘rewiring’ of the brain and Central Nervous System, leading to improvement in symptoms and behaviors

Meet Our Eating Disorder Recovery Team

Sarah Long, PsyD, CEDS

For over 15 years, Dr. Sarah has spent her professional career specializing in the treatment of eating disorders across all levels of care, including several years as a fellow and a licensed psychologist at ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders, a medical stabilization unit for life-threatening anorexia and bulimia. As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, she is privileged to support clients and their families during their journey to recovery. Sarah is passionate about incorporating EMDR, Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy, and collaborative psychological assessment into clinical work with clients.

Adrienne Long, PMHNP-BC

Adrienne is a board-certified, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Prior transitioning to the outpatient setting, she worked at an inpatient and residential treatment center as both a Registered Nurse and then a PMHNP for eight years. Now that Adrienne has transitioned to outpatient practice at The Catalyst Center, Adrienne provides Medication Management and will work closely with your team. She is dedicated to collaborative, evidence-based, and integrative care for adults and older adolescents. Adrienne also has a crucial role on our KAP team and believes deeply in the healing potential of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy for those suffering from eating disorders and co-occurring concerns.

Allison Kalivas, MA, MFTC

While working at a local eating disorder partial hospitalization program, Allison quickly developed an interest in supporting those struggling with eating disorders. She knows that seeking support for an eating disorder is a vulnerable experience and is not afraid to be in a tough place with you. Allison often incorporates both EMDR and Neurofeedback into client sessions, and is also part of The Catalyst Center’s PAT/KAP team. Allison believes that a supportive environment, both in therapy and at home, is critical to eating disorder recovery. In addition to supporting individuals, Allison often works with couples when one partner is suffering from an eating disroder. Other areas of interest include grief and loss, GLBTQ+, identity and life transitions.

CJ Clinkscales, PsyD, PSYC, Postdoc

CJ is a therapist who helps individuals understand the root causes of their issues, integrate past experiences with the present, and make long-lasting behavioral and emotional changes. He specializes in treating trauma and is trained in various therapy modalities, including EMDR. CJ is an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist with experience in treating anxiety, depression, personality disorders, relationship issues, eating disorder recovery, sex and sexuality, sports and performance, ADHD, and grief and loss. He is sensitive and approachable and provides a safe space for clients to explore their challenges.

Alex Smith, MA, LPC

Before joining the Catalyst Center, Alex was a Clinical Director at an inpatient and residential eating disorder treatment center. As a clinician who is recovered from an eating disorder herself, she believes that everyone has the capacity to heal and live the life they dream of living. Alex understands that the journey to recovery can be difficult and requires both support and skills. Her approach is collaborative and strengths-based. In addition to the importance of a supportive therapeutic relationship, Alex has found that Positive Psychology, ACT, CBT, and DBT are powerful tools in cultivating a life where you thrive, not simply survive. In addition to working with individuals, Alex often works with couples and parents whose relationships are affected by their loved one struggles.

Lauren Pinneo, MSW, LCSW, LAC

Lauren brings 15+ years of experience as a therapist and a passion for working with complex trauma to our eating disorder team. She also has ample experience working with addiction and looks forward to supporting clients who have co-occurring eating disorders and substance use concerns. As a highly skilled EMDR therapist, Lauren is available for both in-person and virtual clients who are interested in incorporating EMDR into their eating disorder treatment. She believes that both a safe therapeutic atmosphere and gentle challenge are crucial for growth and healing.
