~ Daniel Siegel

What Is Integrative Psychiatry?

A Collaborative, Client-Centered Approach to Psychiatry

Integrative psychiatry is a holistic approach to mental health care that combines conventional psychiatric practices with complementary mind-body interventions. It treats the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—rather than focusing solely on symptom management.

Unlike traditional medication management, integrative psychiatry considers how biology, psychology, relationships, and environment interact to influence mental health. Treatment is collaborative and personalized, often incorporating evidence-based complementary options such as supplements, nutrition, and lifestyle changes to support both symptom relief and long-term well-being.

A Whole-Person Lens

Our psychiatry team practices from a bio-psycho-social-spiritual framework, recognizing that genetics, trauma, environment, and lifestyle all contribute to mental health and overall well-being. This understanding helps us address root causes and strengthen resilience.

Our Psychiatry Specialties

We work with clients facing a wide range of mental health concerns and personal goals, from improving focus and emotional balance to navigating trauma recovery, major life transitions, or hormonal changes. Here are some of our areas of specialty:

PTSD & Trauma-Specialist Psychiatry

Our psychiatry team specializes in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma using an integrative, nervous system–based approach. We understand how trauma can affect the body and mind, and we tailor care to help clients find safety, regulation, and empowerment. This may include medication support, somatic and mindfulness-based techniques, neurofeedback, ketamine therapy, and close collaboration with therapists trained in trauma recovery.

Neurodivergence & ADHD

Our team provides neurodivergent-affirming psychiatric care for individuals with ADHD, Autism, and other forms of neurodivergence. We recognize that neurodivergence is not a deficit but a difference in brain wiring and experience. Our approach focuses on understanding attention, regulation, and sensory processing differences, tailoring treatment to each client’s strengths, challenges, and goals. We offer medication management, lifestyle and supplement guidance, and close collaboration with therapists to support thriving across work, relationships, and daily life.

Nervous System Dysregulation & Psychiatry

Many mental health concerns—anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, chronic pain, and sleep issues—share a common thread: a dysregulated nervous system. When the body stays stuck in fight/flight or shutdown, it can be hard to think clearly, sleep deeply, or feel emotionally flexible. Our integrative psychiatry team addresses this directly.

How we support regulation:

  • Right-fit prescribing: When medication is part of care, we choose options that support stabilization (e.g., sleep, arousal, focus, mood) and avoid over-activation when possible. We also consider careful deprescribing when medications may be contributing to dysregulation.

  • Somatic & mindfulness-based tools: Gentle, body-based practices help widen the window of tolerance and build capacity for stress.

  • Neurofeedback & nervous system training: Brain-based training can improve regulation, attention, and resilience over time.

  • Foundations for stability: Sleep routines, blood-sugar–steady nutrition, movement, and breathwork are integrated because physiology and mood are linked.

  • Collaborative therapy integration: We coordinate with your therapist (e.g., EMDR, IFS, Somatic Experiencing) so psychiatric care and therapy reinforce one another.

This regulation-first approach helps clients feel safer in their bodies, think more clearly, and make sustainable progress in therapy and daily life.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) & Psychiatry

Adrienne Long, PMHNP-BC leads the medical component of our Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy program, ensuring each client’s safety and well-being throughout the process. Clients begin with a medical evaluation, receive ongoing monitoring, and benefit from seamless coordination between psychiatry and therapy. KAP can be an effective option for treatment-resistant depression, trauma, and entrenched patterns of distress.

She specializes in women’s mental health including perinatal and postpartum transitions, hormonal shifts such as perimenopause and menopause, and the complex relationship between hormones and mood. Erin’s approach integrates psychiatry, somatic awareness, and lifestyle strategies to help clients navigate these transitions with balance and ease.

Common Questions about Psychiatry

Do you provide medication management?

Yes. Adrienne Long, PMHNP-BC, can work with you and your therapist to manage medication.

How do I become a new client?

You may request an appointment by calling 720.675.7123. Or book a call with our Intake Coordinator here.

What can I expect at our first meeting?

Adrienne strongly believes in an integrative approach and that everyone has the capacity for healing. She views medication as a support but not a magic wand that will fix everything. Lifestyle, food, and mood all impact how we feel. That is why it is so valuable for you to fill out all paperwork 24 hours before your appointment so that Adrienne can review your history before you come in. This saves time so that she can get into the details with you and collaborate with you to provide you with the competent, individualized care you deserve.

You should also expect a simple physical. Many nurse practitioners will take your vitals on the first visit to establish a baseline. They will take your blood pressure and temperature and weigh you. There is also the possibility of a blood draw. In some cases, Adrienne may send you for further testing or scans.

What does collaboration between my PMHNP-BC and therapist look like?

Adrienne will collaborate with you, your therapist, and any other medical provider so that you receive cohesive and consistent care.

Does Adrienne work with providers outside of therapists at the Catalyst Center?

Yes. You do not have to see a therapist at the Catalyst Center to work with Adrienne. She will collaborate with your current therapist or other providers you are working with already.

Do you accept insurance?
Like many practices, we are private pay. We are able to provide you with insurance ready forms that you may submit for reimbursement. If you are wanting to use your insurance, you may want to contact your provider to see what you qualify for regarding reimbursement. We are not a Medicaid provider.
Do you do genetic testing?

Please speak with Adrienne to inquire about genetic testing.

Do you provide virtual appointments?

Yes and no. Expect your initial session to be in person. Follow-up appointments will be determined case by case. If you are concerned about covid, here are the precautions we are currently taking:

  • Advanced cleaning protocols
  • Newly installed air filtration system
  • Mask wearing upon entry
  • Covid screening symptom checklist or providing proof of vaccination required for in-person visits.

*If you have had a fever or experienced covid symptoms in the past 48 hours, please reschedule your appointment.

What is your emergency and crisis policy?

We are not a crisis center, meaning that we ONLY have providers who provide services during regular business hours. Adrienne will return calls related to medication concerns during normal business hours the same day. If you are currently receiving services at The Catalyst Center and have an urgent matter that you believe cannot wait until the following business day, your situation is likely emergent and would be better served by calling 911 or the crisis services listed below.

An “urgent” appointment will be available during regular business hours, pending provider availability.
