The Catalyst Center is pleased to welcome Dr. Dorothy Moon to our clinical team! Dorothy has over 10 years of experience as a licensed psychologist in the community and excels at working with adult individuals and couples on a range of struggles including anxiety, depression, trauma, racial identity, cultural influences, life transitions, and relationship issues. She has been specially trained in a variety of techniques such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and primarily uses attachment and trauma-informed lenses in her work. Her wealth of knowledge and experience make her an incredible addition to our staff!
Dorothy’s thoughtful and warm demeanor allows her clients to immediately feel comfortable, seen, and heard. She works collaboratively alongside her clients to help them understand why they might be struggling, and ultimately how they can effectively address the root causes. She has a keen ability to help illuminate how one’s past experiences could be impacting them currently, and then can offer gentle guidance on how they can live their best life. Many of us need emotional support at some point in our lives, especially when managing big changes, emotional triggers, or traumatic experiences. Dorothy is incredible at holding emotional space for her clients so they can both navigate their feelings and then actively work toward changes that will promote balance and wellbeing. One of her best gifts is to approach her clients with a sense of non-judgement that compels them to consider themselves from a more compassionate perspective. Even as she has tremendous expertise, she is able to make this knowledge useful and applicable to clients’ lives. Her combination of specialty training and experience offers her clients many paths toward wellness.
Dorothy has particular interest in couples therapy and has pursued a number of specialty trainings in this area. She is open to working with all types of couples, including bicultural couples, and is LGBTQ-affirming. She helps clients deepen their relationship with each other by helping them repair, build, and strengthen their emotional connection. She is particularly effective at developing trust with both partners of a couple, then supporting them to look at the dynamics and patterns that fuel the cycle of fighting and causes them to feel distant or disconnected. From there, she is able to offer guidance on how to change patterns at the deepest level and increase a sense of safety and security in the relationship. Her passion for promoting healthy relationships is apparent and she is a welcome dose of hope for couples who are feeling lost or stuck.
Dorothy is now accepting new clients. Call or text, 720.675.7123 to schedule a free 30-minute consultation or fill out a contact form and we will contact you shortly.
