If you’re feeling stuck, exhausted, or disconnected — and tired of just talking about it — you’re in the right place.

Allison Kalivas, MA, LMFT, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at The Catalyst Center. She specializes in helping adults and couples heal from trauma, navigate grief, recover from eating disorders, and move through life’s most difficult transitions. She brings genuine warmth, deep empathy, and a direct approach to every session. She’s unafraid to sit with you in the hard stuff.

Allison goes beyond traditional talk therapy, drawing on evidence-based tools like EMDR, Brainspotting, neurofeedback, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). Each treatment plan is built around your specific needs. As your co-pilot in therapy, she’ll help you move from feeling stuck to finding clarity, resilience, and real change.

What Clients Can Expect

From your very first session, Allison creates a space where you can be fully yourself — no pretending, no performing, no pressure. She knows that walking into a therapist’s office takes courage, and she meets that courage with warmth, honesty, and genuine curiosity about who you are and what you need.

Allison’s approach is collaborative and goal-oriented. She’ll work with you to understand what brought you to therapy, what’s keeping you stuck, and where you want to go. Then she’ll draw on her training in multiple evidence-based modalities — including EMDR, Brainspotting, neurofeedback, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) — to build a treatment plan that actually fits your life.

Sessions with Allison aren’t just about talking through what happened last week. She’ll give you practical tools you can use between sessions — skills for managing anxiety, processing difficult emotions, communicating more effectively, and building resilience. You’ll leave each session with something concrete to carry forward.

Whether you’re dealing with trauma that feels like it’s running your life, relationship patterns you can’t seem to break, grief that won’t lift, or a general sense that something is “off” — Allison will help you get to the root of it. She believes healing happens in the context of a safe, genuine relationship, and she’ll meet you exactly where you are with curiosity, compassion, and zero judgment.

Couples Therapy

Every couple gets stuck sometimes. The same arguments circle back, someone shuts down, and it starts to feel like you’re speaking different languages. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and there’s a way forward.

Allison uses Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — one of the most researched and effective approaches to couples counseling — to help partners understand the deeper emotions and attachment needs driving their conflicts. She’ll help you see how past experiences and protective patterns may be creating distance, and guide you both toward more honest, vulnerable communication.

Working with Allison, couples learn to break free from cycles of blame, withdrawal, and misunderstanding and rebuild a relationship grounded in trust, safety, and genuine connection. If you’re ready to stop having the same fight and start truly hearing each other, Allison can help you get there.

Eating Disorder Recovery

Recovery from an eating disorder takes more than willpower — it takes addressing the deep emotional patterns underneath. Allison brings firsthand clinical experience from inpatient eating disorder treatment, giving her a rare depth of understanding for the courage this journey requires.

As an eating disorder therapist in Denver, Allison offers a specialized approach that combines EMDR and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) to help you heal at the root — moving from distress to acceptance, from destructive patterns to freedom. She isn’t just your therapist; she’s your dedicated ally, working alongside you to dismantle the obstacles to your well-being.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy

Sometimes traditional therapy alone isn’t enough to break through deep-seated pain. As a Certified Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Provider through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, Allison offers Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) at The Catalyst Center in Denver for clients who feel stuck despite their best efforts.

KAP can be especially effective for individuals dealing with treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, eating disorders, chronic anxiety, identity challenges, professional burnout, or pervasive loneliness. By integrating KAP into a comprehensive treatment plan — often alongside EMDR or other modalities — Allison helps clients break through barriers and foster deep personal growth and a renewed sense of self.

Hear From Allison

Therapy is one of the most powerful investments you can make in yourself. In our work together, you’ll learn to use acceptance, patience, and practice to become truly empowered in your life. I pride myself on creating a space where you feel safe to share anything — no matter how painful or complicated.

I see hope in life’s darkest moments. You are not alone in your struggle, and your goals are absolutely worth striving for.

My passion is helping individuals, couples, and families develop the tools to thrive. So often, we shrink ourselves to fit into someone else’s expectations. Therapy is a place to break free from that. I’ll help you learn to take up space, explore every aspect of who you are, and understand how your past and present experiences shape your emotional wellness.

Together, we’ll draw connections between your emotions, thoughts, and experiences — and use that understanding to help you build the life you deserve. Whether we’re using EMDR to process a traumatic memory, Brainspotting to unlock something you can’t quite put into words, or EFT to strengthen your relationship, every tool I use is in service of helping you move forward.

Witnessing my clients break free from what’s been holding them back and begin living fully — that’s what drives me every day. Life is challenging. Providing my clients with the tools to navigate their journey is truly an honor.
