Telehealth Therapy in Colorado

We understand that life is busy and trying to squeeze therapy into an already busy day feels daunting. Luckily, we also live in an age with wonderful technology. We provide telehealth to make therapy more convenient and accessible.

Telehealth for Mountain and Rural Communities

If you live in a rural or mountain community you may be without access to enough local mental health services, or your local providers may not offer the specialty you need. Telehealth at the Catalyst Center ensures that no matter where you live in Colorado, you have access to high-quality therapy and psychiatric services.

EMDR, Couples Therapy, Psychiatry, and Eating Disorder Telehealth Therapy from home

We provide all of our services including Therapy Groups, Couples Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Psychiatry, and Eating Disorder Therapy using telehealth. We use a secure, private telehealth platform that is easy to use from any smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam.

Telehealth F.A.Q’s

Many people have questions about Telehealth. Here are answers to the most common questions we get asked. If you would like additional information, please contact us and we will schedule a consult with our intake team.
How does telehealth therapy work?
There are many telehealth platforms that allow us to have private, one on one meetings using any smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera or webcam. Telehealth interactions are a bit different than in person meetings, but they still allow for a sense of conversational nuance, emotional expression, and mutual reading of one another’s cues. It is something we can adapt to with less practice than you might expect.

Will telehealth therapy feel different than in person therapy?
Your therapist will work with you on becoming comfortable in a video session and work hard to bring a vibrancy to telehealth conversations. After some time, you will “settle in” to the conversation and sometimes forget you’re virtual. Video therapy will have both depth and warmth based upon the rapport you and your therapist build together.

What can be done during a telehealth therapy session?
You are able to do the vast majority of the activities you normally would in an in person therapy session such as talk processing, EMDR, relaxation techniques, problem-solving, and skill-building.

Can my children attend a telehealth therapy session?
Many children are familiar with video chat so they are often very comfortable using it. Sessions may need to be shorter in length than during an in-person therapy session, but they still use art projects, story-telling, skills practice, and other activities that they are used to doing in person during a video session. Performing multiple, shorter interactions over telehealth platforms can be an effective strategy to maximize attention and maintain consistency.
How do I get set up for a telehealth therapy session?
Prior to your first telehealth session, you will receive clear directions from your therapist that will allow you to be ready to link to your private therapy meeting or group. The Catalyst Center uses a professional healthcare platform that is HIPAA compliant, offers high quality streaming, and is very easy to use.

How do I get the most out of my telehealth therapy session?
  • Privacy is key for your own personal comfort. We recommend finding a consistent setting in a room away from others or other distractions. This will help you associate the environment with your therapy space.
  • Bring what you will need to be engaged and supplied. Think about getting a beverage, blanket, or tissue before your session begins so you are comfortable and can stay in the moment and experience of therapy.
  • Build a routine both before and after the session. Allow yourself a little time and space to transition into and out of the therapy mindset. Just as you would take care of your body before and after a physical workout, and it is important to do the same with our mental and emotional health.
  • Try to remove distractions so you are able to be present in all the necessary ways to do good therapy. Multitasking will diminish the effectiveness of the session, and it is best for you to be as focused as possible.
