Eating Disorder Recovery

At the Catalyst Center, we know getting started can be the hardest part. You can count on us to walk with you on your journey of healing and recovery. With over 35 years of combined experience, our team is dedicated to inclusive, collaborative, and effective treatment.

We believe that full recovery is possible.

Our Treatment Approach

We do NOT believe that a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach promotes healing or growth.

Instead, we treat clients with respect and compassion all the while creating uniquely tailored plans towards each individual’s recovery. We are careful to consider all aspects of your life, not just the most obvious symptoms of an eating disorder. We also believe providing a supportive environment with an integrative approach is critical and without this recovery is next to impossible.

Many people, including family members and loved ones, hope for a fairly quick recovery with no setbacks. But we’ve learned that recovery is a journey, with ups and downs. We’re very aware of the reality of eating disorder recovery and are invested in supporting you throughout the process. It takes time, but a healthy relationship with food and your body is very much possible.

Focus and Treatment Specialties

About Us

We specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, trauma, disordered eating, body image concerns, compulsive exercise, and co-occurring mental health concerns.

An inclusive and Health At Every Size approach is foundational. We work with  adolescents (17+), and adults in all stages of recovery.

We believe in full recovery but are also willing to work within a harm reduction model if appropriate.

Recently you may have noticed a difficult relationship with food and/or your body, you might be in the early days of recovery, or perhaps have been suffering for decades. Whether this is your first time seeking support or if you’ve been to treatment multiple times, we would love to work with you.

Meet Our Eating Disorder Recovery Team

Sarah Long, PsyD, CEDS

For over 15 years, Dr. Sarah has spent her professional career specializing in the treatment of eating disorders across all levels of care, including several years as a fellow and a licensed psychologist at ACUTE Center for Eating Disorders, a medical stabilization unit for life-threatening anorexia and bulimia. As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, she is privileged to support clients and their families during their journey to recovery. Sarah is passionate about incorporating EMDR, Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy, and collaborative psychological assessment into clinical work with clients.

Adrienne Long, PMHNP-BC

Adrienne is a board-certified, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Prior transitioning to the outpatient setting, she worked at an inpatient and residential treatment center as both a Registered Nurse and then a PMHNP for eight years. Now that Adrienne has transitioned to outpatient practice at The Catalyst Center, Adrienne provides Medication Management and will work closely with your team. She is dedicated to collaborative, evidence-based, and integrative care for adults and older adolescents. Adrienne also has a crucial role on our KAP team and believes deeply in the healing potential of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy for those suffering from eating disorders and co-occurring concerns.

Allison Kalivas, MA, MFTC

While working at a local eating disorder partial hospitalization program, Allison quickly developed an interest in supporting those struggling with eating disorders. She knows that seeking support for an eating disorder is a vulnerable experience and is not afraid to be in a tough place with you. Allison often incorporates both EMDR and Neurofeedback into client sessions, and is also part of The Catalyst Center’s PAT/KAP team. Allison believes that a supportive environment, both in therapy and at home, is critical to eating disorder recovery. In addition to supporting individuals, Allison often works with couples when one partner is suffering from an eating disroder. Other areas of interest include grief and loss, GLBTQ+, identity and life transitions.

CJ Clinkscales, PsyD, PSYC, Postdoc

CJ helps individuals understand the root causes of their issues, integrate past experiences with the present, and make long-lasting behavioral and emotional changes. He specializes in treating trauma and is trained in various therapy modalities, including EMDR. CJ is an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist with experience in treating anxiety, depression, personality disorders, relationship issues, eating disorder recovery, sex and sexuality, sports and performance, ADHD, and grief and loss. He is sensitive and approachable and provides a safe space for clients to explore their challenges.

Lauren Pinneo, MSW, LCSW, LAC

Lauren brings 15+ years of experience as a therapist and a passion for working with complex trauma to our eating disorder team. She also has ample experience working with addiction and looks forward to supporting clients who have co-occurring eating disorders and substance use concerns. As a highly skilled EMDR therapist, Lauren is available for both in-person and virtual clients who are interested in incorporating EMDR into their eating disorder treatment. She believes that both a safe therapeutic atmosphere and gentle challenge are crucial for growth and healing.

Alex Smith, M.S.Ed., M.Phil.Ed, LPC

Before joining the Catalyst Center, Alex was a Clinical Director at an inpatient and residential eating disorder treatment center. As a clinician who is recovered from an eating disorder herself, she believes that everyone has the capacity to heal and live the life they dream of living. Trained in ACT, DBT, CBT, and Positive Psychology, Alex understands that the journey to recovery can be difficult and requires both support and skills so one can thrive not simply survive.
