Telehealth EMDR Trauma Therapy, Couples Counseling, EFT, Somatic Therapy

Dr. Dorothy Moon uses her certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help her clients connect with their emotions and heal from trauma. Dorothy brings a somatic, body-centered approach to her work.  Clients describe Dorothy as warm, safe, curious, and collaborative. She balances support and challenge, knowing you need support to build trust and challenge to grow.

Dorothy Moon, PsyD: Trauma Healing with EMDR

If you are seeking EMDR therapy to heal from trauma, Dorothy is an excellent fit. In your work together, Dorothy will help you learn to stay in your “window of tolerance,” the zone where you are healing and not overwhelmed. She will go at your pace. She gently helps you approach the topics bringing you to therapy. Dorothy can also dive in quickly. If you are looking to move quickly through EMDR trauma therapy, she offers EMDR intensives to accelerate the healing process. Her skill in EMDR will help you to heal from painful past experiences. EMDR can release you from the grip of traumatic memories.

Making Quick Progress with EMDR

Dorothy offers both traditional weekly EMDR therapy and EMDR intensives. EMDR intensives are a good option if you want to make progress more quickly by meeting for extended EMDR sessions weekly or several times a week. Dorothy uses her specialized training in EMDR Intensives to adapt EMDR to this accelerated model.

Somatic Therapy with Dorothy Moon

Somatic therapy can help you learn to read your body’s signals. Dorothy uses somatic therapy approaches to help you learn to identify and communicate what you are experiencing from moment to moment. If something in therapy starts to feel like it’s too much, Dorothy will help you listen to your body’s signals. Using her somatic therapy and EMDR skills, Dorothy will help bring you back into balance.

Couples Counseling with Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Dorothy is a couple’s therapy specialist, certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). She supports all kinds of couples. Whether you are married, unmarried, bicultural, LGBTQIA+, interracial, or international she will help you deepen your relationship by repairing and then strengthening your emotional connection. Dorothy builds trust with each of you and then helps you identify and change the patterns that fuel the cycle of fighting that leaves you both disconnected. Once you can see and change those patterns, she will help you build a sense of safety and security in your relationship.

Emotional Support When You Need It Most

Many of us need emotional support at some point in our lives, especially when facing major changes, marital problems, or traumatic experiences. Dorothy knows how to help you see yourself with more compassion and curiosity, helping you let go of shame and pain so you can connect more deeply with yourself and others. She is disarmingly relatable and easy to talk to while having the training and experience needed to help you get through the toughest times of your life.

Dorothy brings her non-judgmental, gentle curiosity to every session, making it easy to feel safe and seen.

If you are looking for a therapist who can hold you in a safe and warm relationship so you can heal, Dorothy will be an excellent fit for you.

Hear from Dorothy

I see the therapeutic space as a collaborative journey where I walk alongside clients and guide them to (re)connect with their own internal wisdom. I believe that when we are able to befriend our feelings instead of trying to ignore them or will them away, we are able to use them to our benefit. When we understand and appreciate our emotions, we can trust our own experience and approach life with more openness and flexibility. It allows us to deepen our awareness of how we relate to ourselves and impact others. It allows us to send clear messages of what we need in a relationship instead of unclear messages that block connection. It allows us to be our authentic selves and to build deep, meaningful relationships. To achieve this, I help individuals and couples recognize their patterns of behavior that do not serve them, identify and make sense of their emotions, fears, and longings, and effectively communicate and share from the heart with the people they are closest to.

Working with many people who have experienced trauma in their lives, I have been witness to the unburdening and letting go and finally, of processing those events. It is truly an honor to be part of such an important process.”
